Mission Abyss

Mission Abyss — Formal Decorative / Ball Dahlia

The Mission Abyss is one of the darkest, most dramatic dahlias you can grow. Its tightly packed petal architecture sits between a Formal Decorative and a neatly rounded Ball form, producing prolific miniature heads in a glowing, velvety boysenberry, dark red, and black-purple — with an intensely dark, saturated center that softens just slightly toward the outer petals, creating a depth of color that feels almost luminous in low light.

• Bloom Form: Formal Decorative (FD) / Ball — tightly packed, neatly rounded petal architecture
• Bloom Size: 2–3 inches (Miniature classification — very prolific)
• Color: Velvety boysenberry, dark red & black-purple; intensely saturated dark center softening at outer petals
• Plant Height: 3.5 to 5.5 feet — vigorous, upright & bushy

A collector’s essential and a florist’s secret weapon, Mission Abyss is a standout for moody dark bouquets, gothic-inspired arrangements, and any design where deep, velvety, near-black color creates an atmosphere of dramatic, unforgettable beauty.
